AIT Bioscience Announces Emilio Córdova as Senior Vice President of Business Development
Friday, March 23, 2012
AIT Bioscience is expanding its executive leadership team as it names
Emilio Córdova, Ph.D., MBA as its senior vice president of business development.
Córdova spent the past three years as vice president of business development at
Worldwide Clinical Trials Drug Development Solutions (formerly Cedra Corporation) in Austin,
Texas. The AIT Bioscience position brings Córdova back to Indiana where he spent much of his
career at West Lafayette-based Bioanalytical Systems, Inc. serving in a number of roles,
including vice president of business development.
“I am excited about teaming up with AIT Bioscience President Ron Shoup again. He and his
team have developed a contract research organization that is proving to be a game changer in our
industry as they have created the first paperless bioanalytical laboratory in the world, providing
the tools and quality processes to deliver faster results to clients,” said Córdova.
AIT Bioscience’s paperless system enables QA’d data delivery in 10 business days or less, a
much shorter timeframe than the typical data delivery of three to four weeks.
“Being involved in a company setting new standards in the field of bioanalytical testing is
something that I couldn’t pass up,” added Córdova. “Returning to Indiana, which is a major
player in the life sciences nationally, was very attractive to me.”
In September 2011, AIT Bioscience opened a new 18,000 square foot state-of-the-art laboratory
in Indianapolis, Ind. that was built for both small molecule and protein bioanalysis.
“Emilio Córdova brings to AIT Bioscience not only a strong awareness of the drug development
landscape but also the scientific and regulatory knowledge that innovative biotechs and pharmas
need to make credible submissions to the FDA,” said Shoup. “Emilio is already at work building
strategic partnerships with preclinical and clinical CROs that complement our analytical
chemistry skills in mass spectrometry and immunoassay.”
Córdova holds a Bachelor of Arts from Drew University; a Master of Science and Doctor of
Philosophy from the University of Miami (Fla.); and did post-doctoral research with Professor
George Whitesides at Harvard. He also earned a Master of Business Administration from Purdue
