AIT Bioscience (AITB) continues to expand its team to add breadth and depth to our areas of expertise. We are excited to introduce three new employees, who have already been great assets to AITB.
John Pirro recently joined AITB’s business development team. John earned a B.S. in Cell Biology from University of Iowa. He brings over 30 years’ experience in pharma and CRO industries to AITB. His pharma experience includes a Research Scientist position at Bristol-Myers Squibb and Principal Investigator/Project Manager at Bayer Corporation. He then transitioned to the CRO industry to hold various positions at Charles River Labs (General Manager, Protoemics Services) MDS Pharma Services (VP, Bioanalytical Services), Synomics Pharma (VP/COO), SGS Life Sciences (General Manager), and most recently with Tunnell Consulting (Biopharma Project Management).
John represents AITB’s Large Molecule Bioanalytical Services in the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast regions.
AITB recently welcomed Neal Simmons as a Senior Scientist II. Dr. Simmons received his Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry from Iowa State University. He has worked in the pharmaceutical and CRO industries for over 20 years focusing on bioanalytical assay development. His responsibilities in the CRO industry have included assay troubleshooting, development, validation, program management, client communications, mentoring of junior level staff, management of laboratory staff, and technical support to sales/marketing/business development. While in the pharma industry his responsibilities also included outsourcing bioanalytical programs, oversight of vendor relationships, supporting global clinical development and program timelines.
He has participated in FDA inspections, audits and data review involving bioanalytical PK data. He has been an active member of key industry trade organizations, including AAPS and ASMS, and has numerous publications on bioanalytical LC-MS/MS assay development. His experience includes both small and large (proteins/antibodies) molecule therapeutics.
Judie Spicker is now a Director of Business Development with AITB. Judie has been in sales and marketing for laboratory and pharmaceutical products and services since 1991. Immediately following completion of her Master of Science Degree in Immunology at the University of Toledo, Judie spent several years as a research scientist in cellular and molecular immunology at the Medical College of Ohio as well as the University of Michigan. Additionally, she held a position as Adjunct Professor of Microbiology at Burlington County College in New Jersey for two years.
Judie entered the CRO arena after a period of moderating peer-influence discussion groups for pharmaceutical products for Arista Marketing. She spent about 10 years in business development for GLP bioanalytical services, first with National Medical Services followed by SFBC, Alta Analytical (later became Intertek) and KCAS before shifting into the discovery arena with Cerep, which later became Eurofins Pharma Discovery Services. With the move to AITB, Judie is returning to her “roots” in GLP bioanalytical. She covers the Northeastern U.S., centered around the Boston area.
